film news

Over the years there have been many now-famous films made in the Broken Hill region, most notably the Mad Max series.  Some aspects of some films have been shot in little known parts of the Corner Country.

The film corner country initiative aims to promote the region for a greater role in the national and international film industry, including feature films, documentaries and commercials.

Locally made films include:

  • Eliza Kennedy documentary
  • David Ireland wildlife series
  • SBS "About Women" series
  • ABC news documentaries
  • What's Up Down Under television series
  • Adventures of Roman

"Corner Country captures the heart of the Outback and is the perfect location for desert filming. There are sand dunes, salt lakes, ghost towns, outback pubs and endless plains and highways. When we filmed in April 2010 each day ended with a cold beer in hand and chat with the friendly locals. I believe if more people knew about this stunning part of NSW, more productions would be filmed there." - Kate Vinen, Director
